Just because I didn’t get to acknowledge it in yesterday’s post, the beautiful poem featured in the photograph is by the Muslim saint and Sufi mystic Rabia of Basra. The full text is below:
the perfect stillness
and the greatest excitement, and most profound act,
and the word almost as complete
as His name.
I don’t think I’ll ever find another definition of love as concise yet as comprehensive as this.
And, yes, her other poems are just as beautiful.
