I launched on an impromptu cleaning spree today. There are countless rituals human beings resort to to signify fresh starts and new beginnings—springcleaning is what works for me. The externally ordering of my material world allows me to physically enact the internal reorganization of my mental space.
At the end of it, I’m tired and I’m sore—but I’m also revitalized and reinvigorated. I’m clear, however, that the process will never end. Material and mental spaces get routinely cluttered and disordered; the concept of entropy operates in both the physical and metaphysical realms.
But for now, harmony has been restored and order remains.
Here’s to enjoying it while it lasts.
