On the Lure of Otherness

You can be surrounded by everything you’ve ever loved; you can be happy and know that you’re happy too.

But

But

You can feel longing all the same. You can feel the tug of a life you’ve never lived. You can feel the lure of distant yet oddly familiar shores.

Like Rilke once said, “one moment your life is a stone in you, and the next, a star.”

Perhaps happiness lies in learning to embrace and endure the inexplicable nostalgia.
