They’re pretty aren’t they?

The stairs in the picture, I mean.

Never mind that their steps are treacherously narrow.

And that they’re perched against a ledge that actually leads nowhere.

Because aren’t many of our days like these?

Treacherously narrow.

And perched against tomorrows that don’t necessarily lead anywhere.

We learn to cherish them simply because they’re there.
